Gungan Warrior

Looking to recreate the Battle of Naboo? If you or your child are Star Wars fanatics, you are probably well aware of the LEGO Star Wars sets phenomenon that’s been going on since the release of Star Wars, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Originally released in the year 1999 in commemoration of the release of the first new Star Wars flick in 16 years, Star Wars LEGOS have rocked the toy world ever since- so much so that some of the original Phantom Menace mini figures have been revamped and reissued as part of new sets. One such figure is the Gungan Warrior, who has been updated and redesigned as part of the LEGO Star Wars set 7929 The Battle of Naboo.
Originally released in 2000 as part of the LEGO Star Wars set 7115 Gungan Patrol, the Gungan Warrior is made from the same mold as the character Jar Jar Binks. The new edition of these Star Wars mini figures features the same head mold as the original, but with new printing applied to them. The Gungan Warrior mini figure is comprised of three parts: a head, torso and leg assembly. The head, while made from the same mold as the original mini figure, features all-new printing, which really differentiates the old mini figure from the new one.
The original Gungan Warrior was a plain, light tan color with green torso and leg pieces. This mini figure included a brown and purple plastic shield as an accessory. The redesigned mini figure has a tan head with flesh colored eyes and ears, with brown print around the eyes. Its arms are also flesh colored, with a brown torso. The print on the torso is that of brown leather armor. The redesigned Gungan Warrior figure has dark tan hips and legs. It also comes with a more elaborate, (transparent-clear) shield than the original one did, as well as a transparent blue round on a light gray antenna as its accessories.
Whether you prefer the original Gungan Warrior mini figure or the new, updated one, both are available for sale online. The newer figure is definitely more attractive than the original, but if you’re a collector you may just want to invest in the 2000 mini figure.
