General Veers

If you have been paying any attention to the Star Wars phenomena over the past decade, you are probably aware of the Star Wars LEGOS phenomena that has gone along with it. LEGO Star Wars sets have skyrocketed in popularity since LucasFilms first teamed up with the LEGO company in 1999. There is virtually a Star Wars LEGO mini figure based off of every character from the film- from main characters such as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, to more obscure background characters, such as General Veers.

While everyone knows who Luke and Leia are, most people probably do not know much about General Veers. Why should you buy his mini figure, or add any LEGO Star Wars set he comes in to your collection? The answer is simple, really. Although General Veers is a lesser-known character, he did play an important role in the initial Star Wars trilogy. Maximilian Veers served as a Major General in the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire. His character is perhaps most famous for his leadership in the battle on Hoth in Star Wars Episode VI: The Empire Strikes Back. The assault on Hoth occurred during one of the Empires many quests to locate and destroy the Rebels secret base. A Rebel snow speeder crashed straight into the cockpit of the AT-AT Walker he was piloting during this attack. (Supposedly) he survived, although losing both his legs and spending the remainder of his days in a hover chair.

General Veers is a must have mini figure for anyone looking to recreate the assault on Hoth. The mini figure is available in the LEGO Star Wars set 10178-1: Motorized Walking AT-AT. The set includes a battery-operated AT-AT Walker, AT-AT Pilot, General Veers, Snow Trooper and Luke Skywalker (with grappling line and lightsaber.)
