Star Wars Seasonal

Twelve LEGO Star Wars mini models, nine LEGO Star Wars minifigures and four other unique builds! Wait, these aren’t the twelve days of Christmas, there are double the number of items needed for twelve days. Of course, these are part of the Star Wars Advent Calendar! Set to be released in August 2011, this epic set is full of pre-Christmas fun and surprises!

Why, you might ask, why do we need a LEGO Advent Calendar? Waiting for Christmas is already awesome enough! But I tell you, getting to open a Star Wars minifigure or mini model everyday in December before Christmas makes the wait even better! It’s like jumping to lightspeed! And if that isn’t reason enough to pick up this awesome set, just think of all the exclusive mini models and minifigures that you’ll have access to over the course of the twenty-four days!

The mini models include a Republic Gunship, TIE Fighter, Boba Fett’s Slave 1, an X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, Snowspeeder, the Millennium Falcon, Imperial Shuttle, Homing Spider Droid, Dwarf Spider Droid and Republic Cruiser. Some of these mini sets have appeared before, such as the Republic Gunship or the Millennium Falcon. Even those that have been released before in mini have been redesigned for this special calendar, completely redesigned. These special edition ships and droids all work well together, but are smaller than most of the other mini sets that LEGO has developed. The calendar also contains a tool rack, a weapons rack, a Nemodian Mechano Chair and a traditional Christmas Tree.

But among the top reasons to get this set are the minifigures! Such a cast of memorable and unique minifigures has not been seen in a long time. Yoda, the crowning jewel of the set, can be seen wearing a Santa outfit, complete with a backpack full of presents! The old and wise Jedi master must be bringing the good padawans presents! Completely unique, this version of Yoda alone makes this set worth it. Nute Gunray, with his frowning face and outrageous headgear, makes another appearance in this set. Also included here are a mouse droid (the kind of droids that used to lead Stormtroopers down the halls of the Death Star) and a black astromech droid, R2-Q5 to be exact. Both of these droids are very, very rare and would make an amazing addition to any LEGO Star Wars fan’s collection! Also included in this set is a pilot battle droid, TIE pilot (with upgraded helmet), Clone pilot, Zev Senesca (one of the few surving members of the original Rogue Squadron) in a typical Rebel pilots flight suit and Chewbacca carrying his trademark bowcaster.

A whole lot of holiday fun, this LEGO calendar is recommended for builders age 7 to 14. The mini models are not complex, but are difficult to build because of their small size. These sets can be played with, but don’t have many moving parts, which might make them a little boring for some younger builders. With a total of 266 pieces, each mini model is only a few pieces, but the thought of opening a new set everyday will make the holiday time even more exciting! May the Force be with you through the holidays and have fun opening your special presents from the 7958 Star Wars Advent Calendar!
