LEGO 10217 Diagon Alley

The 10217 Diagon Alley is a LEGO set from The Harry Potter series that was released in January of 2011. The Harry Potter books and films mention the shopping area and wizarding alley that is located in London. This magical place is said to be found behind the Leaky Cauldron pub. This set focuses on three magnificent buildings and contains a total of 2025 bricks, which makes it the largest Harry Potter set to date. It also includes many different accessories, and twelve LEGO mini figures. This is the second version of this set to be released. The first version was a much more simple approach and was meant for younger builders. The newer Diagon Alley is best for ages 14 and up because of it's attention to detail and because of the level of difficulty and craftsmanship.

Borgin and Burkes Shop of Dark Magic is the first building in this set. The exterior is made of black, grey and green bricks which is perfect for the Gothic look that this building is going for. The outside is surrounded in green overgrown plants and a sign that displays the name of the store. This building was re-made to modle the image of the movie for a more realistic approach to Borgin and Burkes shop. In the window stands a skeleton on display to top off this dark magic set.

Ollivander's Wand Shop is one of the three buildings in this set that stands tall with lots of glass windows and a bright blue roof. The main floor is where Olivander's desk sits as well as a copy of the Quibbler and a quill. You will also find boxes of wands on book shelves in the shop. There is a ladder for mini figures to climb all the way up to the top floor where they will find an abundance of potion bottles and more boxes of wands. The side of the building displays a wanted poster of a criminal wizard.

Gringotts Wizarding Bank is the final building in this set. This is the second version of the bank made by LEGO but this one was created with much more detail on its interior and exterior design. The interior features a vault, a goblins clerk desk, and a chandelier. The exterior is designed to duplicate the look of white marble and is divided into three sections than can be closed together.

There are twelve mini figures in this set which makes this the largest set with the most amount of figures to be released by Harry Potter. The figures in this set include, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Hermione Granger, two Goblins, Mr. Ollivander, a skeleton, Lucius Malfoy, Fenrir Greyback and a skeleton. This set is not part of any particular sub theme, so it will go great with any Harry potter collection.
