There are two man kinds of LEGO Star Wars guns that are included in most Star Wars LEGO sets: the blaster pistol and the blaster rifle. Both of these Star Wars weapons use particle beam energy to fire a blast of intense light that is capable of either stunning or killing an enemy.

Other LEGO Star Wars guns include the small black gun, which came with Star Wars sets released before 2007, and the commando pistol. There was also a large, old gun that came with the LEGO Star Wars minifigures Chewbacca, Jango Fett and Turk Falso both carry two revolvers. The weapon carried by Jawa is a stunner that has been included in various LEGO sets, Star Wars and otherwise, since 1978. The Tuskan Raider carries a musket, as does the Zam Wessell.

Blaster Pistol

The Star Wars blaster pistol is part number x1740 and is included in a large number of Star Wars LEGO sets. Both the blaster pistol and the blaster rifle are designed to be held in the hands of the LEGO Star Wars minifigures. The Star Wars laser gun, or blaster gun, is included in any Star Wars set that includes a minifig that uses that type of gun.

LEGO Star Wars weapons of one kind or another are included in nearly every Star Wars LEGO set. However, if you are specifically looking for the x1740 blaster pistol, you need to purchase a Star Wars set that was released in 2007 or later and includes one of the characters that comes with a Star Wars blaster pistol.

The Star Wars LEGO minifigures that typically have a blaster pistol are Antidar Williams, the AT-AT pilot, the AT-ST pilot, battle droids, battle droid commanders, battle droid pilots, Cad Bane, Clone troopers, the Clone gunner, the Clone jetpack trooper, the Clone scout trooper, the Clone troop commander, Commander Fox, the elite assassin droid, General Grievous, Luke Skywalker, Mandalorian, the pilot battle droid, the Rebel commando, the Rebel trooper, the rocket battle droid, the rocket droid commander, the scout trooper, the shadow stormtrooper, Shahan Alama, the snowtrooper, the Star Corps trooper, the T-16 pilot, and Zev Senesca.

At least three new characters that are scheduled for release in 2011 will also carry these LEGO Star Wars guns. Aurra Sing and Sugi will be included in the 7930 Bounty Hunter Gunship LEGO set, and the bomb squad trooper will appear in the 7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack.

Small Black Gun

The LEGO Star Wars guns that came in sets released before 2007 were smaller than the blaster pistol that is currently included in most Star Wars LEGO sets. The part number for this smaller gun is 4349, and many of the characters that were released prior to 2007 come with this gun in the earlier sets. This gun sometimes came with an additional piece that could be attached to the end to give it a different look. For example, the gun included with the Boba Fett minifigure in the 10123 Cloud City set had a transparent orange stud that could be placed over the barrel of the gun. Other characters that carried the older version of the blaster gun include the Bespin guard, the Clone recon trooper, Dengar, Geonosian Warrior, Han Solo, IG-88, Imperial trooper, and the siege battalion trooper.

Blaster Rifle

The LEGO Star Wars blaster rifle is part x1741, and it is a longer version of the Star Wars blaster gun. The Star Wars LEGO minifigures that typically carry a blaster rifle are Bossk, the Clone shock trooper, the Sandtrooper, the Senate commando, and the Senate commando captain. The ARF trooper, which will be included in the 7913 LEGO Clone Trooper Battle Pack to be released in 2011, will also have a blaster rifle.

Blaster Pistol and Rifle

Some Star Wars minifigs carry either the blaster pistol or the rifle, or even both at the same time. These characters include the assassin droid, the Clone pilot, and the Stormtrooper.

Commando Pistols

Commando pistols are gray guns that are much smaller than the typical blaster pistol. The Star Wars minifigures that come with one or more commando pistols are Captain Jag, Captain Rex, the Clone commander, and Commander Cody.
